Do you love succulents as much as we do? If your answer is yes, you must try this easy DIY project.
In this video from Lowe’s, you can find out how to make a very chic vertical succulent garden easily in as little as an afternoon. You should be able to get all of the materials, including the plants at any larger hardware store.
The video walks you through the construction of the box and frame (although an old antique frame would look great too), using basic lumber, some screws and brackets, hardware cloth and a piece of acrylic for the back. Next, you fill the box with store bought succulent potting mix, or you can make your own: 2 parts soil-less mix, 1 part perlite and 1 part coarse sand. Water it in well, and let it sit for about 15 minutes, then decide what goes where. Then you use wire cutters to make openings in the hardware cloth. Then comes the fun part, planting the succulents!
The box can be mounted on the wall or it can be used as a beautiful centerpiece on a table. Remember to remove the planter from the wall to water it 2 or 3 times a week.
